Truckin...

Saw an elephant walking this morning in the middle of a 6-lane road, circling India Gate. Pre-dawn by just a few minutes. The mahout was gently, assuredly swaying on top, directing her forward. My taxi driver waved his hand and just said "it happens, in the morning..."

Do you suppose urban planners in India have a mode-split matrix for Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) that includes "elephant?"

very cool...argues for keep one's camera at hand always. Reminds me of Rangoon and the early morning oddities that would not appear the rest of the day.
